Temporary measures due to Covid-19

Everyone intending to take lunch must book ahead, at least for the present.   Please either call the CUC  on 020 7863 6689 or email them at secretary@cityuniversityclub.co.uk. When you contact the CUC with a date and time you need to advise the number of people, if any, who will be lunching with you as well as their names and telephone number.  If you arrive without having booked, we will do our best to accommodate you, but cannot guarantee a table will be available.

Bar – Much as life revolves around the bar could you please resist the temptation to ‘prop up the bar’. Should you wish to have a drink before taking lunch, or just pop in for a drink; depending on the number of people in the bar, the drinks will either be served to you at the bar or be brought to you if you have been requested to move away from the bar once you have ordered and paid for your drinks. Please do not return your glass(es) to the bar, the staff will collect them.

The dining room, with social distancing in place

In order that the CUC meets the current UK Government guidelines regarding safe distancing, for now, the maximum number of guests per table booking is eight – unless the dining room is booked exclusively for a private function.

The dining room on the 1st floor has been redesigned, applying two metre social distancing, to provide 16 covers. Should additional covers be provided, an additional 12 can be provided on the 2nd floor – this enables the CUC to remain within the 30 maximum people that can be served under government guidelines.

When entering the dining room, you will be escorted to your table, please resist the opportunity to socialise with other diners. When seated you will be handed a paper menu listing the ‘Club Lunch’ (main course £11.00; or main course with a drink for £15.00). Due to social distancing, the CUC have suspended their Club Table.

There will also be a limited menu comprising:

  • three starters
  • three main courses
  • two sweets.

A two course lunch costs £27.00 and three course lunch costs £32.00

Please advise the dining room staff if you, or your guest(s) have any special dietary requirements.

Cutlery and condiments will be brought to the table with your meal. Every table is cleaned thoroughly at the end of every guest visit. Staff will be wearing masks, visors and gloves while serving.

We want to reassure you that thorough cleaning routines will take place regularly all day, every day. The CUC staff will be frequently washing their hands and hand sanitisers will be positioned throughout the building.
