Investment Clubs

The Investment Clubs were formed following an initiative by Past President Ivan Nellist in 1999.  Investment Clubs are only permitted to have twenty Members each.  Most have vacancies for more members.

Each of the Investment Clubs have criteria which make them individual and anyone wishing to join should study the various Clubs to see what each offers.

If you are interested in joining one of the Investment Clubs please complete the form at the end of this Handbook and mail or fax it to the Club.  Alternatively you can e-mail your interest with details of your name, address, contact telephone number and the name of the Investment Club you are interested in joining to the City Livery Club and the Secretary or Chairman will contact you.

The following, in alphabetical order give details of those Clubs currently active

The Baltic Investment Club

The Initial  subscription on joining is £200.00 and then monthly at the rate of £20.00 paid by Bankers Standing Order. Many of the shares purchased will be in the lower penny region there is an unwritten rule in the Club that all shares will cost less than £1.00. All dealings are through an on-line Broker who also acts as Nominee.

Meetings are held in the Club Library at noon on the third Tuesday in the months of May; July; September; November; January and March.  The March meeting will also be the Annual General Meeting. Following each meeting Members repair to the Bar for a snack lunch and liquid refreshment.

Root and Branch Investment Club

This was the first of the three Investment Clubs to be formed and the inaugural meeting was held in July 1999 with eleven members and by November the full complement of twenty had been reached.

Founding Members made an Initial investment of £500.00 and make monthly payments of £25.00 by Bankers Standing Order.

The date for the founding of the Club was not auspicious and it took some time to claw back the losses made on the IT stocks originally bought.  However it is notable that fourteen of the original Members remain and the Club is now trading very successfully with a Portfolio valued at over £75000.00.

Meetings of the Club are held in the City Livery Club Library commencing at 12.15 pm on the first Monday of the month after which most members enjoy a convivial snack in the Bar.

If you are interested in joining please contact the Chairman or Secretary of the Section
