Almost everyone finds a fascination in the idea that an article is old and therefore very possible valuable. The Antiques Road Show would not have intrigued so many millions of viewers for so long if it were not so.
The Antiques Circle , recently formed was conceived and steered into being by Past President of the Club Ivan Nellist, the first meeting was held on the 8 May 2007. Currently the Circle meets in the Club Library but this is subject to change as visits may be arranged to other venues where members may view or discuss items of interest.
The aim of the Antiques Circle is for members to compare notes, exchange views and learn from each others experience. These days antiques can range from Stuart furniture and Georgian silver to cigarette cards, collectables, toys and ephemera so the field of interest can be wide and members may have special interests or may just have a general interest.
As the Circle develops it is hoped to invite guest speakers, visits and in due course a short Newsletter. Membership is open to all members of the City Livery Club and there is a small annual subscription of £10.00 to cover administrative expenses.
